1. Determine the rated voltage of the fuse, which depends on the voltage of the entire battery string and the charging voltage of the battery string. If the rated voltage of the battery string is low, the internal resistance (voltage drop) of the fuse itself must be taken into account. Due to the fact that battery short circuit is an irreversible chemical change process, in order to prevent arcing after fuse fusing, the arc voltage borne by the fuse is evaluated based on 2-3 times the rated voltage. After determining the fuse voltage of the battery pack architecture, it is easy to obtain the fuse rated voltage of the battery pack combination and the main circuit.
2. Determine the rated current of the fuse. The material, specification, capacity, and minimum discharge voltage of the battery determine the rated current In of the fuse.
3. Determine the maximum breaking current (short circuit capacity) of the fuse. Factors such as the composition material and type of the battery pack determine its short circuit current. Damaged batteries can produce flammable and explosive gases. Circuit protection needs to consider requirements for protection against toxic gases, heat, fire stars, arc, and fire. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the short circuit current and withstand time of a single battery in the battery pack. Generally speaking, the higher the breaking force, the more complex the design, materials, and production process of the fuse are, and the higher the cost is. According to the design needs, it is sufficient to select a fuse that meets the breaking force requirements.
