In order to make the fuse play its due role and ensure the safe operation of the vehicle electrical appliances, it is particularly important to select the appropriate type and specification. The selection of fuse involves the following factors: current characteristics and voltage characteristics applied on the fuse, ambient temperature of the fuse, installation size restrictions, application lines, etc. When the applied voltage and installation size are fixed, fuse selection is mainly considered from three factors: current characteristics, ambient temperature and application line.
From the perspective of application line, the vehicle line can be divided into high-voltage large current protection zone and low-voltage small current protection zone according to the current strength.
A large number of medium and low voltage fuses are used in an electric vehicle. The medium and low voltage small current protection zone is mainly the central control box in the vehicle line, including lighting lines, audio lines, wiper lines and other electrical equipment. Fuses can be selected according to the specifications and conditions of traditional fuel vehicles;
Generally, an electric vehicle uses 4-5 high-voltage fuses, mainly including motor controllers, air conditioning lines, DC/DC, battery heaters and other high-voltage and high current equipment. For the high current protection zone, the selected fuse should have the following properties: ① Large capacity, usually tens to hundreds of A; ② Capable of withstanding instantaneous high current and high pulse; ③ High safety and reliability; ④ The operating ambient temperature is relatively high; ⑤ Good mechanical characteristics.
