One of the factors that need to be carefully considered when choosing a fuse is the installation method. There are mainly the following installation methods for fuses on the market:
a: Direct soldering type: This type of fuse is directly soldered to the PCB, and the cost is significantly reduced. The disadvantage is that it cannot be replaced on site.
b: Use the fuse clip method: This method is to install the fuse clip on the PCB, and the user can open the device and replace the fuse at any time according to the need, and the cost is relatively low. But you need to pay attention to avoid electric shock.
c: Panel mount fuse holder: It is convenient for users to replace the fuse on site. When the fuse cover is unscrewed, the fuse will automatically pop open. This replacement method is safer. Testing and approval by safety agencies such as UL and CSA are usually required.
d: Fuse box: similar to the fuse clip, but it does not need to be soldered on the PCB. Usually, the device needs to be opened to remove the fuse, and attention should be paid to electric shock protection.
e: Inline Fuse Holder: Used as part of a harness assembly, or where no surface is available for mounting. Usually used in low voltage high current.
