We all know that the action principle of the fuse is: when the fuse bears the load current in the circuit, the heat energy converted from the electric energy will make the temperature of the melt gradually rise from the ambient temperature, and the fuse will also dissipate heat through the connection conditions. When the operating current Normally, the heat generation and heat dissipation are balanced, and the melt temperature will be maintained at a fixed level. Once the circuit fails, the current will increase and the heat will increase. The heat balance on the melt will break and the temperature will continue to rise until it reaches the melting point of the melt material. The fusing process begins. So the real reason for the action of the current fuse is the heat dissipated by the overcurrent.
Since the action of the fuse is directly caused by heat, the ambient temperature must have an impact on the performance of the fuse. The ambient temperature here refers not only to the surrounding indoor or outdoor temperature where the electronic and electrical equipment is located, but more importantly refers to the temperature around the small environment where the fuse is located inside the machine when the equipment is working, because that will directly affect the temperature of the fuse. Performance, generally the maximum atmospheric ambient temperature will not exceed 500C, but the small ambient temperature inside the machine may even exceed 100C, which will have a great impact on the performance of the fuse. The higher the ambient temperature, the faster the fuse will blow, which means that its specification is actually reduced.
Since the performance of the fuse is affected by the temperature of the working environment, we must also consider its actual operating temperature when selecting a fuse. The fuse manufacturer should provide the reduction curve of the product under high temperature conditions. This curve can tell At what temperature will the customer reduce the rated current of the fuse to what percent. The user can choose the appropriate type and specification of the fuse according to the actual requirements of the circuit, and consider appropriate reduction according to the temperature of the fuse in the small environment of the equipment.
